Russia celebrates 50th anniversary of Tsar Bomb.

The Russian Federation is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the creation and detonation of the largest nuclear bomb in history, "Codename Ivan". The hydrogen bomb which was detonated on October 30th 1961 was 51 megatons, which was downsized from 100 megatons to reduce fallout that would occur. The 50 megaton explosion actually came out to about 60 megatons of explosive force (which equals about 1.4% of the sun's power). The bomb was tested during the time of rising tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States in the cold war. The bomb was dropping from a specially coated plane to avoid a rise in heat against the planes surface.
